Texas Unclaimed Property

When Betty was here this weekend, she asked if I used to live at 123 Main St. (obviously not the address she asked about but I don’t want to make it to easy for those who may be trying to steal my identity). When I told her that I did used to live there, she said I needed to go to the Texas Unclaimed Property web site because they had $90 or $120 from State Farm Insurance for me.

From a long-dormant bank account to a forgotten utility deposit or family heirloom in an abandoned safe deposit box, the state may be holding valuable property that belongs to you.

I didn’t asked her how she ran across my name or was searching on it, but I’ll gladly go through the process to collect my $92.60 that State Farm had for me. Of course, I find it odd that State Farm couldn’t get the money to me on their own since I still use them for auto insurance. Guess they don’t want to work too hard and hope to not have to pay after some specified period of non-collection.
