History
I bought this thermostat a couple years ago from Home Depot for almost $100. It worked out great for the entire time we were using it. The only reason I replaced it was because Austin Energy has a Power Partner Free Thermostat Program that I enrolled in. In the program, you get a decent programmable thermostat with a feature that allows the power company to remotely cycle off your thermostat for a few minutes during peak periods (think California brownouts). By joining the program, I get a free thermostat, I can help out with the city's power demands, and I can sell my really nice thermostat to bring a little much needed cash (see Will Work for Money elsewhere on the page). My wife and I really do miss this thermostat, but I can't pass up the free Power Partner thermostat. When the installer came by to switch them out, he had to call me to verify that I wanted to replace my really nice thermostat with an inferior product!
